Action - Take 3 to Motivate

Life and the many forks in the road…In 2011 my husband & I drove from Fort Worth to N.Y. to move our daughter Jessica to San Diego. Jessica & Gauge spent a month with us in Texas before the big move to the West Coast. We enjoyed our time together with her and her new puppy. Ah, the joys of potty training, biting with sharp puppy teeth, and jumping. Fast forward and Gauge is now 80 lbs. of non-stopping energy!

Jessica’s 11 months in San Diego didn’t go as planned. Too often that happens in our lives. When do you make the call that a change needs to take place? In today’s economic times when businesses are laying off or closing down what are you supposed to do? Are you immune to being affected by the economy?

Staying positive during a negative time of your life is one of the hardest things to overcome. It’s easy to bury your head in the sand and wait till the magic wand has done it’s magic.

With the beginning of a New Year…Now is the time to reach deep inside and find that inspiration that will motivate you to pick yourself up and get to work to do what needs to be done.

  • Support. We need to surround ourselves with our tribe, those folks who love and are there with encouraging words and insight to see things that we don’t see while we are knee deep in the muck. Who can you connect with to share what’s going on in your life and invite them to share any ideas or guidance on the situation?

  • Passion. Are you staying true to who you are? Do you have a plan and working your plan? Sometimes we can settle for something just because it’s there but it’s not part of the ultimate plan and before you know it you’re sucked into the vortex and you forget about what you really want to do. Make a map to where you want to be, that ultimate goal including the turn-by-turn instructions and time line for each step. Include your support team so they can keep you on task.

  • Laughter. Medicine for the soul. When we face forks in the road, life becomes stressful and it looks like there is no end in sight. Now is the time to find what inspires you, brings a smile to your face, that tidbit of joy that renews you when life seems unbearable and you just want to give up. Most of us have been there a time or two and probably will revisit again in our lifetime.

Life is for living! Your situation is unique to you, but you are not alone in your situation. Just think of where you want to be, the baby steps to get there, and who you can call upon to pick you up during this challenging time and before you know it you be right where you need to be!
