Headed in the Right Direction? 3 Ways to Get Back on Track
It’s May and a good time to reflect on where you’re headed. Stop and look around…Like where you are? So many times we think ‘if only’ and come up with a million excuses why things are not as we’d like them to be.
Basically it comes down to contentment. We can get into our comfort zone and never get outside that zone. You’re stuck in that place doing the same thing day after day. Is that a bad thing? It’s up to you. Do you lie in bed at night replaying your day and wondering why it’s the way it is or wishing you were…whatever that is that you are wishing.
It’s not too late to make that change or start that project! I encourage you to pull out of your comfort zone and move into a lane – any lane that is moving in a new direction. There are many ways to get back on track. Here are my 3 or find an idea that inspires you to move into that new lane!
1. Make a list of what you want different in your life. Health? Career? Travel? Savings? Time? Social? After you make your list, go through it again, and star your top 3. Review those 3 and then circle your #1 choice. Start with just one and explore what you need to do to make it happen. Be realistic so that it is possible to do each day, week, and month. In six months re-evaluate to see what adjustments need to be made so you are on track towards that new direction.
2. Be happy right where you are. Sometimes life throws us a curve ball and we get side-tracked doing what needs to be done. Taking care of a loved one, a change out of our control, or in a personal battle. Hang in there! You are right where you need to be. This is the perfect time to journal your thoughts. You can journal a couple different ways…diary style, use a journal template with affirmations, or contemplate challenging questions and answer in your journal. Use this time to find those lesson nuggets because we know there’s always a lesson to be learned.
3. Take inspired action. It’s your choice to make a change! Nobody else can do it for you. We can inspire, motivate, or call you out but you are the only one that can take that first step, and then a second one and so on. It’s like that old saying…”how do you eat an elephant?” One bite at a time!!! Just taking action that will propel you to continue moving is your decision and your personal inspiration that moves you into action.
That’s what I have for you today! To get back on track…make a list and narrow it down to one item and then make your plan. Second, sometimes we just have to be happy in our situation because that’s right where we need to be to learn a new lesson. Third, be inspired to take action. If it’s not your “why” then it won’t work for you and you’ll continue down your uninspired path. Give one of these a try and let me know what worked for you.
If you are looking for support to get back on track, coaching might be your best choice. As a life coach I will assist and support you in getting to that place you long to be.
